IYPT 2023 – Murree, Pakistan

General Information
The 36th IYPT was organized and hosted by the Pakistan Young Innovative Minds’ society at Falletis Grand Hotel Murree from the 18th of July (Arrival day) to the 25th of July 2023 (Departure day). The IOC meeting took place after the tournament on the 25th of July 2023 in Murree, Pakistan.
Finals
The finalists of IYPT 2023 received free licenses for Wolfram Mathematica as a prize for their performance in the competition. Congratulations to the winners and thank you Wolfram for sponsoring.

The first place was taken by Poland followed by Thailand in second and Slovakia in third place.

The EC has released the following statement:
“All forms of wireless communication between participants (Wi-Fi, cell phones, Bluetooth) are prohibited during physics fights. For changing the slides during a presentation only single-purpose devices connected via a dongle are allowed. Bluetooth or wifi for this purpose is prohibited. Violation of these rules will be considered as a serious disciplinary issue. Participants are permitted to employ cable-based connections for collaboration.”
Please note that this rule will be implemented already on the upcoming IYPT.

During the EC meeting in Zurich, a new category of Jurors was introduced called “First-Time Juror” with a participation fee of 500 EUR.
30.3.2023
During the weekend from the 10th to the 12th of February 2023, the members of the Executive committee met in Zurich. The Minutes from the meeting are available here.

The registration of independent jurors is now open until the end of March.
If you are an independent juror and want to get travel support, please apply until 15.3.2023. The maximum travel support which can be granted is 1000 EUR.
8.2.2023
The pre-registration for the IYPT 2023 in Pakistan ended at the end of January.
We are happy to announce that we have 22 pre-registered counties and 4 counties which are in the process of pre-registration.

15.12.2022
During the EC meeting in November 2022, the registration fee was adjusted for inflation. Also the concept of an “Early bird fee” was introduced. This fee will be paid by a team, if they pay by the end of April 2023. After this deadline, the teams must pay the increased fee of 2300 EUR. Please note that the late payment must be agreed with the IYPT office before the early bird deadline. See the table below:

5.12.2022
From the 24th to the 28th of November 2022 the EC meeting took place in Murree, Pakistan. During this period premises were visited and topics discussed.
The dates of the next IYPT have been finalized as well:
The IYPT 2023 will take place in Kohsar University Murree, Pakistan from the 18th of July (Arrival day) to the 25th of July 2023 (Departure day).
The IOC meeting will be held from the 25th to the 27th of July 2023 (Departure day).

10.10.2022
During the IOC meeting in Romania, a change was made in the regulations. The number of rejectable problems was raised from 3 to 5. This change is already going to be effective on the next IYPT in Pakistan.
